THE CHALLENGE

Urgent global crises challenge us to learn to live sustainably, in harmony and service to one another and with the living planet.

I am very excited to introduce these ideas culled from so much positive momentum to pursue a shift, transition or evolution of movement toward a more caring and regenerative economy. A new story of our potential as a compassionate human species is emerging–a story of collaboration, citizen action, dialogue and new understandings propelled by unprecedented levels of democratic freedom, multicultural exchange, and access to life changing science and technology.

Let's join together as a Compassion Alliance to pursue collaboration, investment and partnership to bridge gaps between challenge and opportunity in local and global communities.

OPPORTUNITIES FOR ACTION

Cultivating a Culture of Connectivity and Compassion: We are deeply alive and conscious by nature. Our sense of connection and participation with life around us is the basis for a compassionate and cooperative approach to living. We can strengthen community through shared experience, common purpose and appreciation for our individuality and diversity.

Educating for an Evolving Awareness: We can support research and educational strategies -- in or schools and in our workplaces -- that optimize human capacities and explore the depth and breadth of the human mind and consciousness. Increasing awareness heightens our capacity to recognize and access creativity, broaden opportunities and make better choices.

Restoring Ecological Balance: Balance is fundamental to our survival. We must reverse the harm we have done to our global commons–the water, air and soil that nourish all life. We must encourage transition to clean, renewable energy sources and take all necessary actions to mitigate the effects of climate change. We must reduce consumption and repair ecosystems.

Encouraging Truth in Media: We can be innovative in our use of electronic media to mirror of our positive story -- to reach across differences of generation, culture, religion, wealth, and gender. We must support fact-based media outlets and creative individual voices speaking out to resist the negative story and alternative facts.

Engaging in Social and Political Transformation: To support and sustain a caring and regenerative economy we can empower the emergence of new leaders who are committed to a more conscious democracy and vibrant civil society. All measures should be taken to shape participatory, responsible and compassionate models of governance and activism (and to resist actions that diminish to a just, sustainable, democratic and civil society).

Working for Integrity in Commerce: We can provide inspiration for aspiration to pursue innovation, ethics and excellence in business and social enterprise. Systems can be developed to help assure conscious business can achieve and communicate the scope, depth, and beneficial impacts of their actions to benefit sustainability and the greater good.

Promoting Health and Healing: Whole systems healing, respecting both traditional knowledge and modern sciences, must be supported in physical, social, and spiritual domains.

Building Global Community: We have ONE planet which we share. We must create a culture of peace that eliminates the need for armed conflict, respecting and appreciating the glorious diversity of our human family.
